Top 10 Real Wedding Moments in 2014
Weddings are so incredibly special. It could be the only day in your life that all of your friends and family are in the same place at the same time. That’s why we take our job over at Photographik so seriously. Wedding moments are fleeting at best and we’ve spent the last 4 years and over 60 weddings anticipating those moments so that our brides and grooms can remember them for years to come.
This year was no different than any other, we had some amazing couples and we photographed some pretty awesome weddings. Each one of them full of incredibly special moments. Check out or top 10 wedding moments for 2014!
10. A sweet kiss
Marc gives a touching toast to his bride, Amanda at their Lougheed House reception. A tearful bride receives a kiss from her groom, making for one of the sweetest moments we encountered in 2014. You can see more of Amanda and Marc’s Lougheed House wedding here.
9. The Family Dog Gets It
Wedding days are packed full of monumental moments. Even the family dog rides the emotional roller-coaster. This family dog waits patiently with Andrea before she leaves her family home in Canmore, AB for her ceremony.
8. Getting Ready
Deanna’s sister adjusts her earring just before she leaves to walk down the aisle at Hotel Arts. Moments like these are so precious. A little anxious, a little excited and so much awesome.
7. Mother of the bride sees her daughter dressed for the wedding
One of our favorite moments to look for on a wedding day are those of quiet contemplation before the day even begins. Here, Erin’s mom looks on as she puts the finishing touches on her outfit as she’s getting ready. There’s nothing like watching a mother look on as her daughter puts on her wedding dress before her ceremony.
6. The Inappropriate Groomsman Toast
By the time we get to the reception on a wedding day, the bride and groom have had a chance to relax and spend some time with friends and family. When Matt’s groomsmen got up to give a toast during dinner and recalled a night out with Matt in his bachelorhood, an inappropriate comment threw the wedding party table into a fit of laughter. Check out Heather and Matt’s awesome Canmore wedding here.
5. The Cutest Flower Girls
Kira’s flower girls rush over and give her a hug in the middle of bridal portraits. We couldn’t have scripted this even if we tried. The light. Those little girls. Those smiles. *Le sigh* How amazing wedding day moments can be. Check out Kira and Steven’s beautiful June wedding in Calgary.
4. The Garter Moment
Jordan celebrates after successfully collecting the garter from his bride on the dance floor at their Heritage Park wedding. This moment kicked off a wicked awesome dance party, another one of our favorite moments on a wedding day. Check out their Heritage Park wedding here.
3. The mother of the bride moment
Kelsey’s mom takes one look at her daughter in her wedding gown and tears up. A tender hug shared with a bride and her mother made for a quiet, emotional moment that made everyone in the room reach for kleenex, including myself. Check out Kelsey and Mike’s full wedding post here.
2. The father-daughter dance
Amanda and her father share a moment during their father-daughter dance as their friends and family look on at their Lougheed House wedding. Despite what you might think, with all the directions you are pulled in on your wedding day, you don’t have a lot of time to spend with even your closest friends and family. That’s why we love the father-daughter dance so much. Moments like these you can keep forever.
1. The tearful ceremony
At the end of the aisle, Eva is flanked with the two most important men in her life. Her father, and the man she is about to marry. Carter wipes away the tears on Eva’s face as she meets him and her father passes her off to be married to the love of her life.
