Calgary Brunch Wedding at The Lakehouse | Susan and Andrew
Susan and Andrew’s Calgary Brunch Wedding at The Lakehouse
Intimate gatherings for weddings are becoming more popular. AND WE LOVE IT. A beautiful location, amazing food, good friends and lots of smiles. Is there anything else needed to celebrate a wedding? Not really. That’s kind of what it’s all about. For couples who want to keep it simple and who want to spend time with loved ones on their wedding day, an intimate wedding is a great option. In our opinion, The Lakehouse on Lake Bonavista in Calgary is the perfect venue and this Calgary brunch wedding is the perfect intimate wedding inspiration.
Why intimate weddings are so amazing
Intimate weddings are great for so many reasons. Smaller affairs bring family members together in a way a larger wedding can’t. For Susan and Andrew’s Calgary brunch wedding, family members arrived early in the morning to help set up for the ceremony so the bride and groom didn’t have to worry about set up. After the ceremony, their wedding party was in charge of setting out the table decor for brunch. The decor itself was simple, elegant and beautiful. But what made this set up so special was the love and care their wedding party put into the act of setting the tables for their wedding meal. Everyone who loves this bride and groom came together to make this day happen and that’s pretty special.
It was so refreshing to photograph a wedding that was less about the details and more about celebrating a two families coming together. Susan and Andrew’s Calgary brunch wedding was, in a nutshell, the perfect gathering of friends and family. It was about two people making a commitment to stand by one another and support each other. It was about two families gathering to break bread, to share stories and take part in this couple’s first day of marriage.
A note about hosing a brunch wedding
We’ve photographed other beautiful Lakehouse Restaurant weddings before, but this is the first time we’ve photographed a brunch wedding at this venue. We love this idea for two reasons. One: The brunch food at The Lakehouse was equally as delicious as their dinner fare. Two: After the meal is over, you still have the entire day to celebrate with friends and family. This latter reason is so wonderful. After all the formal stuff is over, you still have the entire afternoon and evening to relax, visit with family and celebrate. We chose to host a very intimate wedding (just 12 people, including us!) and it was so wonderful. Although our wedding wasn’t a brunch wedding, it had the same sentiment. We had the entire morning and afternoon to ourselves, just the two of us. That time together was so special. We worried less about little details and spent that time really connecting. That’s what an intimate wedding is all about.
